Are you living authentically?
Are you being authentic or are you protecting yourself? We often don’t see the layers of protection that are blocking us from being who we truly are and who we are capable of being. The ego takes hold, we strive for perfection, we want to be accepted, and we try to prove our worth for the sake of pleasing others. We revel in anger when we don’t get our way and we make our point known as what’s right. We get locked in these conflicts because we want sense of validation and we aren’t in a place to validate ourselves. Maybe we didn’t feel validated as a child so we seek it outside of ourselves and get angry when we don’t get it. But if we can cultivate trust in ourselves, learn to validate ourselves, then there is nothing to prove because our worthiness can only come from within. So, I ask the question: are you being who you truly want to be? The authentic version of yourself? Or are you being who others think you should be and operating from learned patterns and limiting beliefs from your past? If you are normally a person who goes to bed at midnight and that’s who you believe yourself to be in one aspect, who says you can’t be a person who goes to bed at 9:00 pm? Who says? Challenge those beliefs. If you like going to bed at midnight and that feels good to you, great. But if it doesn’t and you shame yourself every night for going to bed so late. What’s stopping you? Anything is possible for you. We have the power to change, BUT we need to want that higher version of ourselves, the truly aligned version, more than we want to stay the same because it’s “easier”. Fear of change is real but stagnation is too. Without change are we really happy? Without authenticity are we truly just a shell of ourselves, going through the motions every day on autopilot? When we turn the tables on what we think “should be” we finally allow for growth, for true happiness, and a development of trust within ourselves that it will be ok, whatever happens.
To break through to change, you first need to identify the patterns and beliefs keeping you stuck. Where are you resisting parts of your life? Where are you judging parts of yourself? Where are you aligning with limiting beliefs? Where are you holding on for control?
Once these areas are brought into awareness it’s time to make a choice. It’s time to decide over and over again, every single day, to break free from these patterns. To be the person you are underneath the resistance and control. It’s not about being a better person. It’s not about doing it right. It’s HARD work and it’s all you. It’s not about me, it’s not about your parents, it’s not about your boss, your teachers, your friends. It’s you. And there is no right or wrong way to do it. It’s wobbly, it’s messy, but it’s possible. It’s about self acceptance and self trust and being in alignment with the real you so you can live from a place of authenticity and feel the value of life on every level. Only you can know if you are in that place.
